Sharesight vs Borderfolio for Advisers: Tracking Portfolios or Reviewing Cross-Border Clients
Sharesight is one of the best-known portfolio trackers in Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and its Business plan serves advisers and accountants. Borderfolio for Advisors is built for a different job: reviewing clients whose portfolios cross borders. Many advisers will want one, some both. This page sets out the difference using Sharesight's own published material.

When Sharesight is the better fit
- You need capital gains and income reports for clients' tax returns, by country.
- Your clients mostly live and invest in one country, and automatic dividend and corporate-action tracking is the priority.
- You want many portfolios at a per-portfolio price.
When Borderfolio is the better fit
- Your clients are expatriates, have moved or plan to move, and the question is what their residence does to withholding, fund choice and estate exposure.
- Accounts sit in wrappers (ISA, SIPP, super, IRA) and in several brokers and currencies, and you review them as a household.
- You present a current-versus-proposed portfolio and a branded review to the client.
What Borderfolio does not do
- No custodial data feeds at scale: statements are imported (deterministic parsers for common brokers, assisted extraction for the rest, reviewed before they count), with live sync for IBKR and Freedom24.
- No portfolio accounting for alternatives, private funds or complex entity trees; other assets are valued by the adviser.
- Not a CRM, trading, rebalancing or fee-billing system, and no annual tax-return reports for clients.
- Cross-border figures are estimates with stated assumptions, for professional review, not tax advice.
